 Title Card research 

Open title cards 

  • Appears at the beginning of the film 

  • Usually it introduces the main cast, as long as the title, and maybe alludes to content that happens later in the movie. 

  • Sets the tone through color, and music. 

Main title card 

  • Really focuses on the actual title of the movie. 

  • Stylized in a way that promotes the branding/marketing for the movie. (Barbie) 

  • It usually takes place after the official opening of the movie. 

End title cards 

  • Appears at the very end of the film, however end title cards usually have an opening title card. 

  • Lists most of the people that helped out in the production of the film. 

  • May include bloopers, or extra (postcredit) scenes. 

Intertitle Cards 

  • Primarily used in silent films, to convey dialogue/narration. 

  • Often ornate, with decorative borders. 

  • It may break up a scene with text.
