Music

“Wicked Games” By Chris Issaks plays in the beginning of the film, as Damien drives up to Nova’s house, crosscutting with Nova preparing to greet him. This sound creates a moody atmosphere, preparing the audience member that this isn't a normal rom com.

“Be my baby by The Ronettes, plays as Nova drags Damien across the floor after she poisons him. This creates a juxtaposition, as the song is happy but then what you're seeing is terrifying. The meaning Baby ng of the song also goes along with Nova’s obsession with murder, as she wants Damien to be her own (baby) so she can kill him.

Sound effects

Nova will hum a melodic tune as she puts the pill in the glass, recalling back to older films where the woman would hum/sing while doing chores/cooking. This also enhances the unnerving visuals, while keeping juxtaposition.

A Doorbell ring would stop Nova in her tracks, right before she takes the knife to Damiens' chest. This ring would make a reverse dolly zoom on Nova’s shocked face, as she wasn't expecting any visitors for the night. A violin screech would also play during the reverse dolly zoom, creating a jumpscare.
